3M Gel Connectors

3M Scotchlok™ 314 & 316IR Gel Connectors – Moisture-Resistant Low-Voltage Wire Joiners

Designed for reliable, waterproof connections in low-voltage outdoor systems, the 3M Scotchlok™ 314 and 316IR Gel Connectors are industry-standard joiners for irrigation, lighting, and electrical applications. These self-stripping IDC connectors provide a fast, secure, and grease-sealed join that protects against water, dust, and corrosion – no wire stripping required.

✔ Available Options:

  • 3M 314: Blue cap – suited for standard low-voltage joins with 0.5–1.5 mm² copper wires (commonly used for solenoids and lighting)
  • 3M 316IR: Black cap – flame retardant, translucent body for wire visibility, same size range (0.5–1.5 mm²), ideal for 2-wire irrigation systems

Key Features (Both Models):

  • Self-stripping: No need to strip wires – insert and crimp
  • Moisture-resistant seal: Filled with mineral oil-based gel to prevent corrosion
  • Supports: 2 or 3 solid or stranded copper wires
  • Wire Range: 22–16 AWG (0.5–1.5 mm²)
  • Voltage Rating: 600 V max (low-voltage only)
  • Temperature Rating: 105°C
  • Installation: Use standard slip-joint pliers or 3M E-9BM crimping tool
  • UL Listed: Yes – meets UL Standard 486C

Common Uses:

  • Irrigation solenoid and controller cable joins
  • 2-wire irrigation systems
  • Landscape and garden lighting
  • Underground low-voltage wire connections

Choosing the Right Connector:

✔ Choose 314 (Blue) for general use on solenoid joins, garden lighting, and basic irrigation wiring.
✔ Choose 316IR (Black/White) for added flame resistance or where wire visibility before crimping is preferred (e.g. 2-wire systems).

Note: These connectors are not suitable for 240V or mains power. For low-voltage use only.
