The Rain Bird PRF RBY Filters, available in two models, 3/4" (PRF-075-RBY) and 1" (PRF-100-RBY), are pressure regulating filters designed to simplify irrigation system installations and improve performance. These combination units reduce the number of components required in a control zone, making it easier to install and allowing for more control zones to fit in one valve box.
Both models feature a built-in 200 mesh (75 micron) stainless steel filter, eliminating the need for additional connections and streamlining the installation process. The filters effectively remove debris and particulates, ensuring clean water flow and preventing clogging of downstream irrigation components.
One of the key features of these filters is the integrated pressure regulator. The static pressure regulator maintains a consistent pressure of either 30 psi (2.1 bar) for the 3/4" model or 40 psi (2.8 bar) for the 1" model, providing optimal operating conditions for the irrigation system. The pressure regulator is conveniently housed within the filter body, reducing the overall footprint and simplifying maintenance.

Both models operate within a wide range of flow rates and pressures. The 3/4" model supports a flow rate of 0.20 to 5.0 gpm (0.8 to 18.9 l/m), while the 1" model handles a flow rate of 3.0 to 15.0 gpm (11.4 to 56.8 l/m). The inlet pressure can range from 20 to 150 psi (1.4 to 10.3 bar), providing flexibility in different system setups.
It's important to note that these filters should be installed downstream of a control valve and not under constant pressure. If the filters are installed with emission points located more than 5 ft. above the pressure regulating filter, it is recommended to install a check valve after the regulator to prevent backflow.
For maintenance and replacement purposes, the compatible replacement screen for these filters is the RBY-200SSMX, featuring a 200 mesh stainless steel screen.
